While all these monochrome looks are some of the best fashion coming out of 2021 yet, monochrome isn't anything new. Style icons often went for monochromatic looks. It's been an iconic fashion look for years and there's no doubt it's having a big comeback right now.
WHAT IS MONOCHROMATIC?
Monochromatic in science means consisting of a single wavelength of light or other radiation, or having or appearing to have only one colour.

For years, monochrome was not solely about wearing a single colour, but it was synonyms with wearing black and white (and maybe grey). No matter what, it was always neutrals. But as was aptly displayed by many of the inauguration attendees, monochrome this season is in no way limited to neutral colours.

MONOCHROMATIC OUTFIT COMBINATIONS
For the monochromatic outfit, I will go for a moody and slightly sophisticated look.
The one colour of emphasis in this outfit is, of course, grey. Grey is classic in my opinion with the exception of the blue tint of the sunglasses in the image below.

I like the contrast of the shiny silver-grey skirt and subdued grey turtleneck. The sheen of the sequined skirt brought another dimension to this monochromatic style, while the sequins themselves added a different texture.

The texture is an important element when putting together monochromatic looks like these. If your monochromatic outfit were comprised of the same fabric throughout, it would likely come off looking dull.
Since these were winter outfits, I went with a moody colour. If I were to wear a monochromatic outfit in the summer I would choose a brighter colour, while the spring calls for pastels, and the fall calls for rich jewel tones.
