Genz is rapidly becoming the new defining generation of fashion. Whether they are wearing '90s halter tops or biker shorts, it looks way cooler than before. Things that millennials once loved are fading out of fashion now, with skinny jeans and fitted sets being replaced with a more oversized fit. Because our contemporary reality is COVID, a lot has altered in the fashion space. However, this generation maintained their likeability towards comfort, self-expression through clothing, and bringing past trends back into the mainstream. It can be seen that gender fluidity is omnipresent alongside sustainability.
Here are five trends that are in Genz’s closet:
1. Say no to skinny jeans:
Keeping comfort as a priority, a good pair of wide jeans is what we all need in our closets. On the runway too, the year started in favor of baggy clothes—big jeans reigned supreme at the fashion shows of Balenciaga, Prada, Celine, Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton, Fendi. Whether it is a flare, bell-bottom, or a simple straight leg, the choice is yours. They’re styled with crop tops or even an oversized T-shirt.
You can easily beat the summer heat and run errands in them while looking stylish yet comfortable.

2. Baguette bags:
The word "baguette" does not refer to French bread in this context, but rather it is another most-liked trend among the younger generation. Created in the late 90s by Fendi, the baguette bag became the It bag after being featured on Sex and the City. Now, the baguette style has risen in popularity once again, especially among the GenZ crowd. These bags are incredibly attractive, and easy to carry so that's why they're likable. The baguette presents the perfect option for homebody fashionistas who prefers small bags.

3. Everything Oversized:
From runways to offices and Instagram feeds, baggy clothes are becoming the go-to fashion choice post-covid. In this new normal, when everything is going digital and work can be done via Zoom, clothes are becoming more relaxed and roomier. Thanks to the lockdown, we’ve gotten comfortable, and now clothing larger than our size is breaking all the fashion rules and doing the rounds.
It's easier to lounge around and WFH, and still, look good in them. Now that they're in style, you can find this anywhere from street shopping to retail stores.

4. Checkered Print:
Gingham print was popular on social media until last year, but now it's the checkered print for us. One can wear it in their preferred color, whether it is grayscale or colorful. They are on pants, tops, handbags, and even on caps so there are many options in which you can incorporate this print into your outfit. The checks come in jumbo and microform too. It may be too much for millennials, but we "GenZ" love them. This trend exudes the notion that the letter "F" in fashion stands for "fun with prints." An interesting and unusual print like this one is exactly what you need right now.

5. Corset:
The corset transformed over time from a symbol of patriarchal oppression to one of feminine sexuality and liberation. Originally popularised by British designer Vivienne Westwood, various fashion houses, including Balenciaga and Parada, have introduced updated modern versions of corsets in their recent collections. This garment is seeing a major comeback.
They are worn with baggier jeans or tucked down into flowy maxi skirts. Corsets are appearing in myriad ways, like strapless, long sleeves, or tank sleeves, all being popular versions of the trend. The new modern version of corsets on tops and on dresses is very feminine and chic.

This pandemic has altered our mentality in various ways, including our personal style. Because many of us spent so much of the last years quarantined at home, people favor casual and comfy clothing over anything else. However, clothes do make us feel good in many ways, so looking presentable yet comfortable is what we all should aim for in the new normal.
