TO BECOMING "THAT GIRL"

Am I the only one or is everyone else tired of staying home in pyjamas, binge watching on Netflix and hogging on junks? I sure am. If you are a YouTube or Instagram or a tik tok junkie, you must have come across "that girl" trend. "That girl" is someone who wakes up early, makes her bed, works out almost everyday, eats healthy and works hard to achieve her dreams. This trend went viral almost immediately on tik tok. The reason behind this notion of becoming "that girl" is it motivates you to be productive everyday and be active on a daily basis.

So who's your that girl? Well mine was a Korean YouTuber, Michelle Choi. Michelle is a vlogger who films about her day to day life. It's something I came across in 2019 and she's been my role model ever since. She's neither a celebrity, nor a freedom fighter but she gave me the motivation to wake up early everyday, get organised and become "that girl". However, your portrayal of "that girl" could be entirely different from mine or anybody else's. You don't need to be the fittest girl or eat only healthy to be her. "That girl" is about pushing yourself to become a better you, both physically and mentally. It's about doing things on your own time and for you only. And now I am on my journey to being my better self, a version of my "that girl".

How I started my journey on being "that girl" could be the start of yours too. To becoming "that girl", you need to first sit and think about the parts of your life you would like to better yourself in. "That girl" is someone who is organised and always put-together. For you, it could mean getting a hot girl summer body or improve in school or just better your mental health. It could even be developing a skin care routine or getting your nails done at a salon. "That girl" is a girl who takes care of herself in all areas of her life.

Researchers have found that being around disorganisation makes it hard for our brain to focus. So I started my journey by cleaning up my messy space. I decided to learn to cook instead of ordering take outs and I realised that cooking is quite therapeutic and I actually enjoy cooking now. I wake up early, make my bed and eat on a dining table like a normal person instead of my bed. And it feels amazing to come home at the end of the day from work or class and sleep on the clean sheets. I also began to always dress nice and put on a little make up because it is always such a nice feeling to feel fresh, put on some make up and look pretty for yourself. Also, I would make lists of my short term goals such as grocery shopping, going to the dentist or reading a book and complete these tasks followed by the feeling of success and pride because it made me feel and be productive. Being "that girl" is someone who achieves what she puts her mind to.

Do nice little things for yourself every chance you get. From changing your hairstyle, to your nail paint colour, to wearing an outfit you love because when you start taking care of yourself, you start to prioritise and love yourself and before you know it, you are already "that girl" because "that girl" is all about this. I too am currently chasing my version of "that girl" and that's how here I am, writing this blog, trying to reach my dream, one step at a time to becoming "that girl".
